Active Autowerke's engineers have spent countless years fine tuning the E46 BMW M3 software. With on-going revisions and updates being made continuously both on our Race and Forced Induction programs, they have made possible the refinements needed for a true hi-performance street tune. Within specific ares of the MSS54 DME, the algorithms have been altered to achieve more usable horsepower and torque by re-working features such as the engine VANOS (dual variable valve timing), fuel and ignition maps and torque dampening. Other noticeable results are better warm starts, with a crisper and a more responsive throttle. So whether you enjoy you car as a daily driver or enjoy the weekend track outings our BMW M3 tune software will be able to accommodate your needs.

Through careful, detailed remapping to the entire DME we have been able to increase your S54's output by 14 HP and 11 ft lbs of torque on a stock BMW E46 M3 with factory settings for a normal street car. We also have different upgrades available for off-road use like sport button modification, SMG shift light feature to your 6 speed model, 02 Simulation, etc. The software is designed to operate with gasoline that has an average octane rating with full emissions to create a clean burning combustion with good AFR's all within factory specifications.

SOFTWARE INSTALLATION OPTIONS:

1.You can install / upload the software performance tune yourself with the aid of a laptop (you provide) and the SIMON 2. The SIMON 2 comes included at no extra charge when you purchase the Active Autowerke E46 M3 performance software. (Exception is the Z4M with the S54 motor).



2.Not comfortable about performing this task yourself as a DIY project. Let one of the Active Autowerke Dealers in your state perform this task for you.


3. If you remove the DME from the E-BOX within the engine bay of your M3, then just pack it securely, insure the content for $1,000 replacement value, then ship either via Fedex or UPS to Active Autowerke. We will massage the tune, then turn around the package usually the same day via Fedex 2nd Day Air back to you (we pay the freight back to you) at a insured value of $1,000.00. Remember to add the ECU FORM with the the DME. (This shows who is sending the DME, your contact information and current mods on your M3)


TUNING FOR YOUR AIR INTAKE OPTIONS:

1.If you own a K&N drop-in performance air filter. The CFM flow rate is much greater than the factory paper element. We have seen such improvements while running a factory/stock E46 M3 on our in house dyno. As such, we strongly believe that the performance tune should take into account the style of air intake installed on each specific M3. You will receive a specific tune to accommodate your specific air intake at no additional charge to you. Call us for your options.

2.Same thing applied if you own a K&N #63 Air Intake System or AFE Intake System. These systems require that the factory mesh baffle within the factory air box be removed. As such, the air turbulence created is much different and can influence the CFM flow rate as well. We strongly believe that the performance tune should take into account the style of air intake installed on that specific M3. You will receive a specific tune at no additional charge to you. Call us for your options.

3.Having installed a CSL style intake system dramatically changes the air intake charge set-up. Not only is this radically different, but the software to operate with the CSL style is also different. You will need to run a Alpha N tune configuration.
There are also different configurations of CSL airboxes, from the genuine to aftermarket replicas. There is an additional cost to run this set-up.



TUNING FOR YOUR HEADER OPTIONS:

1.Have BMW factory headers with BMW factory catalysts installed. Our tune was made primarily for this set-up. You will receive a specific tune to accommodate your header configuration at no additional charge to you. Call us for your options.

2.Have BMW factory headers installed on your M3, but configured by you to run without the catalysts for gains of additional horsepower. However, a 02 SENSOR FAULT CODE will be evident. We can satisfy this fault code through the software configuration. 
NOTE: The vehicle can only be operated for OFF ROAD and /or RACING purposes ONLY and not be operated on highways and public roads that requires all necessary emission compliance to be intact.
You will receive a specific tune to accommodate your header configuration as well as satisfy the fault code. Just make the selection to reflect your header with the number of 02 sensor holes. Example, the factory header has four 02 sensor holes. Call us for your options.

3. Have BMW after market headers installed on your M3, but configured by you to run without the catalysts for gains of additional horsepower. However, a 02 SENSOR FAULT CODE will be evident. We can satisfy this fault code through the software configuration.
NOTE: The vehicle can only be operated for OFF ROAD and /or RACING purposes ONLY and not be operated on highways and public roads that requires all necessary emission compliance to be intact.
You will receive a specific tune to accommodate your header configuration as well as satisfy the fault code. Just make the selection to reflect your header with the number of 02 sensor holes. Example, the factory header has four 02 sensor holes. Call us for your options.

4.Have BMW EURO CSL headers installed on your M3, but configured by you to run without the catalysts for gains of additional horsepower. However, a 02 SENSOR FAULT CODE will be evident. We can satisfy this fault code through the software configuration.

NOTE: The vehicle can only be operated for OFF ROAD and /or RACING purposes ONLY and not be operated on highways and public roads that requires all necessary emission compliance to be intact.
You will receive a specific tune to accommodate your header configuration as well as satisfy the fault code. Just make the selection to reflect your header with the number of 02 sensor holes. Example, the CSL headers has only two 02 sensor holes and not four. Call us for your options.

6 SPEED SHIFT LIGHT OPTIONS:

Just like the E46 M3 with SMG gearing, your BMW E46 M3 with 6 speed can now enjoy a Shift Light feature. Preview the video above showing how a 6 speed now has a shift light feature. SOFTWARE DATA LOGGING OPTIONS:

Our Data Logger gives you the capability to log data from your vehicle in real-time. a0It is simple to use and will allow for a more accurate and personalized remote tune. Data logger works with the SIMON 2 as a ADD-ON for only an additional cost of $59.00 to you. Delivered to you electronically via e-mail. 

AIR PUMP BY PASS OPTIONS:

If you have a defective air pump, you may notice a check engine light on your dashboard, or may also notice the pump is consistently noisy for 30 seconds to 2 minutes after startup. Replacing this pump often quiets noisy startups, turns off check engine lights caused by certain codes, and keeps your vehicle running perfectly. One can expect a normal replacement cost to be in the $500.00 range.
Most racers prefer to eliminate this part for weight savings and create a cleaner engine bay layout. However, a 02 SENSOR FAULT CODE will be evident. We can satisfy this fault code through the software configuration.
