Located in the rear of the rear subframe. Two required per vehicle.
The E46 chassis of 3 series is prone to subframe bushing failure. This is characterized by a clunk in the rear end while going over bumps. Failure to replace worn subframe bushings as been known to accelerate general subframe failure - a known problem with E46es.
